This month, May 22nd, noon EST, our inspiring friend and colleague Sara Buscaglia of Farm & Folk joins us to talk about “Natural Dye Farming + Building a Resilient Business Online (and Offline)”.
It’s been interesting to watch Sara’s business grow over the years and how she’s been able to support her work as an artist and farmer both online and off.
Sara is an organic farmer, natural dyer, textile artist and book author residing in the high desert of Southwest Colorado. Her inspiration is found in the paradigm shifting slow processes of tending soil, seeds, and plants.
Sara says: “Farm & Folk is a fusion of my work as both an organic farmer and folk artist. The colors in my quilts are born through the alchemical processes of seeds + soil, sunlight, moonlight + water. Through this alchemy, the seeds are transformed to become fibers and dyestuffs, some of which are grown and harvested here on Ancient Future Farm. My fascination and passion for transferring natural color to natural fibers continues to grow stronger as the years roll by.”
We’ll get Sara’s origin story first and better understand how she’s been able to take her passion for farming and scaling a natural dye plant business both online and through teaching. We’ll also touch upon that idea of resilience, our theme this year, and how she’s able to balance farming, art, a book, teaching and family.
