Louise Sutton is a self-taught, multidisciplinary industrial stitcher with over 17 years of professional experience, specializing in fine tailoring and small batch manufacturing. Hailing from Orlando, FL, Louise began as a factory uniform stitcher at Disney at 18 and was quickly promoted to costume sewing. While in Florida, Louise also worked restoring and repairing vintage clothing and costumed celebrities for tv and film. After moving to NYC to pursue a career in fashion, Louise taught classes in the garment district and sewed for NY Fashion Week. Louise was asked to relocate to Boston to become a brand’s full-time sample and garment stitcher for NY Fashion Week, and landed in Providence, RI.
After the brand’s closing, Louise became an industrial stitcher in factories such as Fall River and Cranston and also sewed for numerous startup brands and well-known designers before opening their own sewing services business. Louise continues to provide small batch manufacturing and sample sewing for designers and brands, while also tailoring and teaching sewing classes at The Nest sustainable fashion shop in Providence.
Louise is currently in the process of opening the Rhode Island Sewing Center, a much-needed resource for intermediate to advanced sewing classes, access to industrial machinery, sewing services, workshops, events, textile art galleries, and fabric and notions supplies.
