Plain View Farm is a family-owned and operated alpaca farm in Hubbardston, Massachusetts with a gift shop and seasonal activities for all ages.

Located in Hubbardston, Ma, we’re not far from the city of Worcester or the New Hampshire border, so sometimes you might see us at exciting fairs and events visiting our alpaca friends. But most of the time we stay at home with Keith and Debbie, our humans, who take great care of us and invite people to come meet us on the weekends.

We bet there’s a lot you don’t know about us. Explore this site, come visit us and learn more at the farm, give our folks a call at (774-258-1194) or visit us on Facebook to see what we’ve been up to most recently and meet our other friends. We’re glad you stopped by and hope you find everything you need.

Alpacas are gentle creatures that are easily kept and bred, providing  a good investment and a great way of life. Around the world, they are in strong  demand, people pay top dollar for materials produced from their fiber, and there are many tax advantages offered to alpaca breeders.

  • Alpacas were an integral part of the ancient Incan civilization in the mountains of South America
Alpacas were first imported to the United States in 1984
The two types of alpacas are the Huacaya and the Suri
Alpaca generally live about 20 years, their gestation period is 11-12 months and there is almost always one cria (baby) at a time
Alpacas eat grasses and chew a cud
They are about 36″ tall at the withers and weigh about 150 pounds
They are gentle and easy to handle
Alpacas do not have incisor teeth, horns, hoofs or claws, making them safer than many other animals, and they do not bite or butt
Clean-up is easy since alpacas group their droppings in only a few places in their stalls
They require minimal fencing and can be pastured at 5 to 10 per acre

Alpacas fiber is soft as cashmere and warmer, lighter and stronger than wool, coming in approximately 22 basic colors with many variations and blends.  It is one of the world’s finest and most luxurious natural fibers.
